Cute Girl Ideas... If Husband is Handy!

This lady did these - I think in their lake house or something? I dunno - basically the ceiling was slated and they made use of the area with built-in beds. I think I would have LOVED these as a child - and also think it makes great use of space (i mean really - what else do you do with that weird under-wall area??

Love the mounted overhead light and the dubbies for books - CLEVER! It's like a fancy, electricity-powered tent (and climate controlled to boot!).

What do you think?

Yellow & Teel Contemporary Nursery

This one is one of my favorites! I love the Ikda/Contemporary look and the pretty, light colors. I believe I showed this one to Devon and she had seen it and loved it, too!

Not crazy about the mobile but everything else is working for me!

I would probably do different window treatments and maybe a grouping between the windows??

Adorable - love the chair, love the circles covered in Fabric - cheap and add a lot! Definitely love the cubbies!

The Elephant hamper looks great with this room! The room needs a rug (I know - i never say that - but hardwoods in a nursery with no rug is scary!) I'm pretty sure this nursery owner said they were in the process of finding one!

Cutie, cute! I think I would want more baskets in the cubby (maybe one more row on the second one up) and an ottoman (unless that's a recliner - it doesn't look like a recliner though?) And I don't know what that little banner is above the cubbies... but I don't like it...

What do you think? Cute bedding, right? Overall adorable room!

Little Girl's Room

I think she was 8 year's old?? I dunno. But I love her room and think it's fabulous. Mom - this is the one I was saying had READ on the walls!! In a little montage. Love...

Cute painted table/chair

Fab lamp and bin for books

Adorable above bed collage (a little too busy for my taste but like the idea)
Fabulous pillow

TV cabinet with antique-like curtain... i'm not a huge fan??

You can see the colors great here - love them (cherry red + granny apple green!)
More fabulous pillows

Awesome chair

Great view of bed area
It looks cute with the curtains pulled back! Love the bins and ribbon tie-backs.

What do you think?? I think it's fun and youthful and reminds me a bit of anthro. But I think it needs a bit of editing for my taste!! Definitely lots of ideas!!

Nursery Month Continues...

Cute wall art, right? It reminds me SO MUCH of Mrs. Grossman's scrapbook sticker letters - love it. And I like the idea of spelling out a word, rather than a child's name. I feel like the name is there a lot, you know? What do you think? What words would be cute?

Cute Ideas for Boy Nursery

This room is a little too dark for me to love, but I do think they have some cute ideas. First, I love the alphabet bedding/window treatment. I wouldn't want a valance, but would like drapes! I think it's cute! I'm not crazy about those little shelves - weird and not functional to me.

It looks like there's something cute going on the left with the numbers. I think the furniture looks silly with that one high shelf??

The art is funky cool - like -and I like these shelves - MUCH more functional to me.

His name over the closet blends in too much, right? I think the crib in the middle of the room like that is interesting though, huh?

That cat is creepy as all get out... and the clock looks lost - needs to go.

There's the numbers - that's cute to me (kind of blens in a bit much though). The linens on the glider are cute too - but again, the glider blends a bit much - chocolate on chocolate on chocolate!

So definitely some do's and don'ts here for me - but I think this nursery did have some good ideas!

Cool Wall Art for a Nursery

Um.. I think these are awesome!! I think you could easily make these with cheap frames (i.e. $5 canvas backers at Ikea), wrapped in canvas/white fabric. Then it's just taking other fabric and cutting shapes and little triagnles. Love it! I think it's great for a boy nursery but could easily be for a girl nursery with just different colors.

Half Bath: Before and.... During

Here it was in all of its red glory...

And here it is toned down with new art and a cozy rug!

Now it needs the following: a new sink, a new mirror and a new faucet!! Here's some bathrooms I REALLY like...

I don't think I have much room for an actual cabinet (nor do I think that we would use it). Here is something I like... and LOVE the idea of having a round mirror over it and a single light coming down from the top! Here are some sinks i'm loving....

Let There be Lights

Austin's little lights came out great! He said to let them get even more light he's going to cut those bushes back this weekend! Either way - they worked out great at the party and i'm so happy we have them!

They look like bridesmaids here. hehe

And here they are in context...

Yay!!

New Chair for the Orange Guest Room

Oops! I never posted this beauty! Mom and Dev were up at the outlets and found this Pottery Barn Grayson chair ($500 in store) for $75. Yes. Crazy!! I love it, it's perfect for the orange guest room!!
Now I want two of them (in green) for the dining room... but not for $1,000..... Hmmm.

Bye Bye Brass

So many moons ago Devon (sister!) and I went to Lowe's for a small white fan for one of my guest rooms. It's since been installed.... incorrectly... so Austin was working on fixing it.... and now it's done! Turns out the fan was missing a part (bless his heart). So he replaced the fan and we're in business now! I'll have to take a pic tonight!

Whilst at Lowe's I saw a box of 6 "small lights" - AKA closet/hallway lights. Currently our hallway has 3 of these heinous brass/crystal doo-dads and I despise them. Then there's more in our closet, the walk-in in my scrapbook room, the bathroom stall area, the laundry room, the pantry, etc. Anyway - I buy this 6-pack of lights and they've yet to be installed. But I begged Austin to JUST do the 3 in the hallway. That's it - not all 6 - just 3! I was just SO ready to say bye to at least some of the 90's brass that permeates this home!! (primarily dominant in bathrooms but STILL!)

So he did it! He installed 3 new ones in the hallway and 1 new one in the pantry. He even tried to do the closet one but it ended up being a 2-bulb light not a 1... so boo! He was about to start the laundry room when I was like nah - the end!

Sadly I don't have pics, but I will take some. I love the new ones - so presh!!!

And Another One Bites the Dust: Art!!!

Whilst at Z Gallerie for the green guest room pillow, I came across this little 26"x26" gem. It spoke to me. I liked how simple it was. I liked the shapes and colors. I liked the frame. It's called Warm Bubbles. It reminded me of planets. It made me smile. As did the price tag. $70.

I took it home knowing there was a chance it wouldn't speak to Austin. But it did. He also liked, as did I, that it was on sale. I actually got it for 20% off - $56. Here it is in our home (reflections and all) leaning against the wall.

We're thinking half bath OR moving the entryway pic into the half bath and hanging this in the entry way. Decisions decisions. Either way - I'm so glad I found it!!!

And Another One Down: Outdoor Lighting

Austin had gone to Home Depot and Lowe's to find solar outdoor lights. But there was like no in between - either $20 for 6 (plastic, low-quality ones that got bad reviews online) OR $100 for 2. Um, no.

So Austin mentioned Frontgate in Phipps- a super nice outdoor store. He heard they had reasonably priced outdoor lighting from his friend Phil (they're doing some sort of outdoor challenge or something - they both bought houses around the same time - boy shit).

We looked online and found a set of six Arlington Solar path lights for only $130. They come in a bronze finish, they're glass not plastic and stainless steel. We really liked them! So we called and they didn't have it in stock but the store manager was so apologetic that they're sending them to us - free shipping - to be here by Thursday at the latest - WOO! And guess what?! As I was checking out they showed up as 20% off - some 20-year anniversary special! So they'll be here for FREE for only $110!! Here's the item online. Here's some pics. I'll take some of them once they're in the backyard!

Here's the style...

Here's the color we chose...

Hope you like! Can't wait to get these out in the yard. Will also help us keep an eye on Reuben!
