No More Pool Table!

Yay! The guys got to the house at 3 p.m. yesterday, disassembled it and were on their way to meet Austin by 4:15! Austin had a car full of stuff so he met them at the house and the guys got the table up QUICK because apparently the hardwood peeps did a great job and the guys said it was "one of the most level floors they'd ever seen." WOO! Here's the progress on my end. Austin says it looks GREAT at the house - he took pics with his phone but they won't email - boo.

The inside of a pool table...

Going, Going...

Gone!

And now the legs are gone and it's back to our messy place with stuff everywhere!

Reuben, our furry snowball, was sad to see it go. He went over there several times throughout the remainder of the afternoon and laid in the place where it used to sit. He'd lay, flat bellied on the floor, and look up at the light - no longer blocked by the bottom of the table. Poor little fella lost a comfort zone! In other news - YES - he's super fluffy and we have an appointment with a new groomer on Wednesday!

Bye Bye Pool Table!

So last night went VERY well! We got lots packed and we loaded up the PT with light stuff so we can quickly unpack it at the house and reuse the boxes. Things are going well! And today at 2 p.m., the pool table movers are coming to disassemble the table - woo! Once they're done i'll call Austin and he'll ride over and meet them at the new house - then assembly begins. And while they're doing that Austin has a PT full 'o crap to unload. It's all going well! I think i'm going to use my lunch to pack some more - I can't decide! Either way - I think it will be great to have the table outghta here- more room for boxes - woo!

A Picture Post

Austin's New Toys!

My New Toy!

Saturday AKA Hardwood Install Day Austin insisted I sleep in so he left at 7 a.m. to meet the hardwood installers at the house. I slept in “as long as I needed to” which ended up being 9:30 a.m. I got up and got to work loading up what we packed last night, and packing more. I finally headed up to the house sans Reuben – I couldn’t wait to see the floors! When I got there it was so exciting! The yard was full of machines and vans and wood and people – they had a 6-man crew there working quickly getting those floors IN! Austin had put together all of his toys and started on yard work. I got out the cleaning supplies and headed upstairs and Austin helped me put together the vacuum cleaner (he did it; I watched and chatted). Then I vacuumed the entire upstairs, used an attachment for the stairs and all the baseboards and fans. I wiped down all of the mirrors, cleaned both bathrooms, cleaned all windows, etc. It took forever - but I KNOW it’s super clean – I’ve never seen so much nasty come out of a vacuum cleaner (and the place was professionally cleaned – you could tell – but still – this Bissell is AMAZING!!!) When I got done Austin had finished mowing, edging and clipping the hedges, and the guys were wrapping up the hardwoods – they look great!! We were worried – match jobs don’t always turn out right. But this one sure looked great and we’d highly recommend Emperial Hardwoods!! They were courteous, clean and quick – they even helped us pack up the PT with debri (we didn’t want to pay the $250 charge) and gave us gloves! Haha So at 7 p.m. we headed back home – we needed to get the debri out of my car, go buy boxes and packing paper and get ready to go have a few drinks at Hudson Grill with Mon and Andy. Well… we drive up to the 4th floor trash shoot, open the door and VOILA – a room full of broken down boxes with three tidy Pottery Barn bags of packing paper – SCORE! GREAT DAY! Here is....

Our Day in Pictures!

This is how I pack... hehe

The wood is in and ready to go!

Yay! Laminate and carpet are gone!

An aerial shot. hehe

Productive Evening! And Thoughts About Future Purchases

Yesterday I took my lunch to pack some stuff, load up the car, etc. I filled it to the brim! Then I made pita pizzas and put them in the fridge. At 5 on the nose I headed to the gym for a quick 3.5 mile walk, then ran upstairs, grabbed Reuben and the pizzas and we were on our way to Alpharetta! Austin met us at the house and we quickly got the pizzas in the oven and unloaded the car! This trip mostly included our games, towels, and LOTS of my closet (ClosetMaid drawers, shoes, etc.). Also - the bed frames!

Now - both guest rooms have everything from frames and mattress pads to bed skirts, sheets and everything. The pillows are even stuffed in the cases & shams. All both rooms need now are beds! haha

Clearly, the last "rooms" to go will be our bedding, our kitchen and several things from each of our closets though. I'm not too worried - the more trips we take the better I feel about the whole thing, you know?

One annoying thing: Currrently both garage door openers operate the left door... the right door (i.e., my door) doesn't open - boo. Austin said he'd mess with it on Saturday.

Speaking of Saturday - full day! We hope to go up there at 7:30 a.m. to meet the guys with a car full of stuff. Unload. Go buy a vacuum cleaner and a few other things; pick up more stuff; unload then CLEAN from top to bottom, especially the kitchen (to be honest - it's VERY clean but I want to do it anyway). Once we're done we may do one more load/unload then that's it for the day. We're hoping to have some free time to go see our friends!! Especially since next weekend is going to be slammed with the move.

I can't WAIT to see the hardwoods in!! And really to get the whole house done. I was thinking, as far as furniture, $100+ items, we really don't need that much:
  • TV + storage baskets for Austin's office
  • 2 club chairs + couch + floor mirror for the living room
  • Coffee table + TV for the kitchen seating area
  • 2 night stands + 1 chair for our bedroom
  • Piece of furniture for entryway
  • TV for video-game room
  • 2 night stands + lamps for guest room
  • desk + shelving unit + futon + TV + chair for scrapbook room
  • full size bed for guest room

That's really it! (not including decorative items and the BIG things like granite/stainless appliances in the kitchen; hardwood stairs with new bannisters; etc.) To prioritize:

  1. Full size bed for guest room $400
  2. TV + coffee table for kitchen seating area $400
  3. Storage baskets for Austin's office $70
  4. 2 night stands for our bedroom $TBD - $500
  5. TV for video game room $400
  6. 2 club chairs + couch for living room $460 for chairs; $500 for couch
  7. 2 night stands + lamps for guest room; $170
  8. desk + shelving unit + futon + TV + chair for scrapbook room $800
  9. TV for Austin's office; $200
  10. Piece of Furniture for Entryway $250
  11. 1 Chair for our bedroom $250
  12. Floor mirror for living room $100

TOTAL: $4,500 - not too bad for all that, right? I even tried to add in tax!

Wonderful Closing

Our closing went SO good! It was so nice to meet Kevin and his agent/fiance Wendy and of course wonderful to see our amazing agent Amanda again. She's just too sweet - she brought us an adorable gift bag filled with $100 to Pottery Barn, cute address labels, and change-of-address cards for us to send to friends and family, complete with stamps and labels. SO sweet! The closing went very smoothly thanks to all of Austin's up-front work and after work i went to the gym at Cox then hopped on the highway at 6:40. Guess what time I pulled into the garage? 7 p.m. Yes, AWESOME! We emptied the car, stocked up the two guest rooms with their linens and took down some heinous curtains and are so happy the house is OURS!!!!!!! Now I just need to keep packing so we can get lots of stuff up there. We went ahead and took the seats out of my car and left them in the garage so I'd have more space. I'm so excited!!

We Close Today!

Now if we can just get everyone on the same page... the closing documents were sent last night and they were very incorrect - BLAH. Do your jobs, people! Anyway.... i'm SO FREAKING READY for this mini nightmare to be over. Who wants to promise me things will calm down soon. Anyone? I need it to... I really do! Have I mentioned that we're SO behind packing. Like SO behind? I'm getting nervous and slightly worked up. Being behind at work AND in my personal life is just NOT working for me - eeek!

Our Moving Schedule

I created this and we're READY! Click to make it larger.

Today we:

  • Use the West Elm coupon
  • Visited Ikea
  • Bought 4 Euro Pillows
  • Scheduled the movers for April 11 - got a GREAT price.
  • Scheduled the pool table movers for April 9 - Shane quoted me $450 on the phone but Damon had already told me $350 last month so the guy said they'd honor the original price - woo!
  • Checked our dryer plug - it's 4-prong - YES! (the one at the house is 4-prong so we don't need an adaptor)
  • Went to the bank and moved money to checking so we'd be more flexible and ordered new checks for the house address.
  • Contacted Post Stratford to see if we need to paint the walls back (they keey thinking they did them but I want it in writing: either we need to paint them or we don't).

That's it for now - off to start packing thanks to Devon letting me borrow boxes! Thanks again, Dev, you've been so much help!!!
